About the Role:
Advanced Underground Inc. is looking for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team in Hamilton, OH. Responsibilities:
Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment safely and efficiently on job sites
Read and interpret bore plans, utility maps, and site drawings to execute accurate directional bores
Monitor drilling fluid (mud) systems and adjust parameters to maintain optimal boring conditions
Coordinate with locating technicians to track drill head position and avoid utility conflicts
Perform pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on drill rigs and related equipment
Follow all OSHA safety standards, company protocols, and site-specific safety requirements
Communicate effectively with crew members, foremen, and project supervisors throughout daily operations
Requirements:
Proven experience operating directional drilling or HDD equipment in the field
Knowledge of underground utility installation, boring techniques, and soil conditions
Ability to read bore logs, utility plans, and site maps
Familiarity with drilling fluid mixing and mud recycling systems
Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work in varying outdoor conditions
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly on active job sites
